Pro-Adjuster by Sigma

“The No Fear,” Gentle Chiropractic Adjustment.

Sigma

The SIGMA Instrument (the Pro-Adjuster) virtually puts all the fears of manual treatment to rest.  If you are afraid of the typical “crack” or “pop” sound associated with a well performed chiropractic manual adjustment, the SIGMA Instrument is for you.  The SIGMA Instrument utilizes a precise oscillating force with uninterrupted motion. It is able to increase mobility of the spinal segments by reducing or eliminating the fixations. It uses soft tips, that are comfortable to the human body to exert a tapping force that “unsticks” the joint.

What is the Pro-Adjuster Instrument?

The Pro-Adjuster is a computer-based, chiropractic adjusting instrument that gently percusses the tissue area being tested, giving the practitioner vital information about the motion dynamics and resonant frequency of the spinal joint or surrounding soft tissue.  The Pro-Adjuster instrument measures the stiffness of the tissue or joint by applying a light mechanical force in the form of a percussion wave and oscillating frequency; a signal is then reflected back to the instrument, which then measures the spine and tissue response, sending it to the computer for interpretation, all before the muscle can respond. The process occurs so fast that it reduces the normal defense mechanism or guarding response, caused by typical palpation.

SIGMA Instruments uses the same NASA developed sensing technology that the aviation industry and engineers have used in order to test metal fatigue in aircraft and bridge spans.  The doctor uses this highly sophisticated technology to analyze joints and tissue with increased precision and confidence.  Never before could you see a pre-analysis and a post-analysis to scientifically show that a positive change was made.  The SIGMA Instrument is safe, gentle and effective and allows the provide to decide whether a traditional, manual adjustment is necessary.

Dr. Ungemach is a certified provider and is one of the first doctors in Pennsylvania to bring this amazing technology to the area.  The adjustments are so gentle and safe that this is the preferred method of manipulation by the medical community. Medical Doctors, Doctors of Osteopathy, Orthopedic Surgeons, Pain Management Specialists and Neuro Surgeons are just some of the specialists that refer patients to our office for this type of treatment.  The technique is so gently and precise that we have been able to treat small children, elderly and patients who have undergone spine surgeries.  Below are some important facts about the Pro-Adjuster by SIGMA Instruments.

  • Soft Tissue conditions such as trigger points respond well to the percussion forces of SIGMA Instrument. The forces are delivered in a sub-harmonic, metered, precise nature to create oscillation and enhance range of motion.
  • Neurologically, the SIGMA Instrument takes advantage of the interplay of the type 1, 2, and 3 mechanoreceptors with the type 4 nociceptors creating an inhibition of pain, increasing neuroactivity and restoration of normal nervous system tone.
  • The SIGMA Instrument is very comfortable for patients of all ages due to the fact that there is no application of manual rotation or thrusting forces.
  • The patient is treated in a comfortable way without the need to turn or hyperextend parts of the body, head or neck. Because of this, it greatly reduces any issues associated with osteoporosis, vertebral artery conditions or other concerns that more aggressive techniques might not address, and why it is the preferred method of manipulation by medical doctors.
